Esther Kim Lee, Ph.D. — a professor of theater history who also writes about Asian American theater, Korean diaspora theater, and globalization and theater — is joining Duke University’s Theater Department.
Lee was born in Seoul, Korea and spent her youth in Santa Barbara, California. Currently, she teaches in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at the University of Maryland. From 2013 to 2014, she was the Chief Editor of Theatre Survey, the flagship journal of the American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR). She is currently the Vice President for Publications for ASTR.
