Why Asian American Studies Needs to Be a Menace to Empire

Despite the field's radical origins and aspirations, Asian American Studies has all too often reproduced dominant narratives of US history, particularly by embracing and reinforcing the mythical notion of the "nation of immigrants." Through examples from his recent book, Menace to Empire, Moon-Ho Jung will discuss how Asian American Studies might reckon with empire and history to pursue its radical potential.
